Boondogs win Garage.com
Burt Taggart // The Boondogs survive a songwriting competition of over 100,000 bands only to land a publishing deal with a company that has recently filed for bankruptcy.
Richard Matson // Garageband.com was an ill-fated late-boom "discovering music" dotcom fronted by Jerry Harrison from Talking Heads. The Boondogs won a nationwide search and got to record with Jim Dickinson (Big Star's producer) on a budget of a quarter million dollars. The band quickly discovered that the horror story cliches of studio recording are cliches for a reason. Garageband fell prey to the bursting bubble, the Boondogs returned to LR and it's rumored that Jason Weinheimer and Indy Grotto still have thousands of copies of the unreleased record in their closet.
