Skatertown Skatepark Now beneath the Professor Bowl on Rodney Parham Road, Skatertown was the birthplace of the Little Rock punk scene in 1982. The park opened in 1976 and closed after the skateboarding fad died in the late 70's. The park continued to be accessed by a handful of skaters, and during the early 80's became a magnet for a small handful who would form the first core of the LR punk scene. Paige Hearn sold Thrasher Magazine and skate supplies from a duffle bag, and the magazine provided access to punk bands and ideologies. Locals included John Sumrall, Markley Hart, Andy Branton, Jason Morell, Gary Duncan, Mark Royce, Sam Caplan, Mark Howe.
